Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi awal yang menunjukkan bahwa masih terdapat siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 17 Kuningan yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca yang berdampak negatif pada prestasi akademik secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan letak kesulitan membaca pada siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus pada siswa kelas IV di SD Negeri 17 Kuningan. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan Model Miles & Huberman yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga siswa tersebut masih dikategorikan pada tahapan membaca permulaan. Jenis kesulitan membaca pada siswa yakni kesulitan dalam mengenal huruf, kesulitan dalam membaca huruf diftong, kesulitan melafalkan fonem, kesulitan dalam membedakan huruf, kesulitan dalam merangkai huruf menjadi kata-kata, dan terbata-bata dalam membaca. Dengan membaca rutin dan didampingi oleh guru maupun orang tua, maka kesulitan membaca yang dialami akan berkurang serta memerlukan waktu yang cukup intens maka siswa akan lancar membaca sedikit demi sedikit. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas membaca di sekolah dasar.
Based on initial observations which show that there are still grade IV students of SD Negeri 17 Kuningan who have difficulty in reading which has a negative impact on over all academic achievement. This study aims to describe the location of rading difficulties in students. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study used observation ad documentation techniques. Data analysis in this study used the Miles & Huberman model, namely data collection, daa reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed tha the three students were still categorized at the beginning reading stage. The types of reading difficulties in students are difficulty in recognizing letters, difficulty in reading diphthongs, difficulty in pronouncing phonemes, difficulty in distinguishing letters, difficulty in stringing letters into words, and stammering in reading. By reading regularly and accompanied by a teachers or parent, the reading difficulties experienced will be reduced and require a fairly intense time, students will read fluently little by little. The results of this study are expected to contribute to improving the quality of reading in elementary schools.
