Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan belajar membaca permulaan siswa kelas II SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun Kecamatan Kuningan Kabupaten Kuningan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa media kartu huruf dapat mengatasi kesulitan belajar membaca siswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas II SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun yang berjumlah 21 orang. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tiga siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pada setiap siklusnya. Peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa diukur dengan tes sebelum menggunakan media kartu huruf nilai rata-rata siswa yaitu 50,5. Sedangkan setelah menggunakan media kartu huruf nilai rata-rata siswa menjadi meningkat dari hasil tes pertama yaitu 57,6. Hasil tes kedua meningkat menjadi 69,0. Kemudian hasil tes ketiga meningkat lagi menjadi 83,0. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan media kartu huruf dapat mengatasi kesulitan dalam belajar membaca siswa di kelas II SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun.

This research was motivated by difficulties in learning to read at the beginning of class II of SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun, Kuningan District, Kuningan Regency. This research aims to find out that letter card media can overcome students' reading learning difficulties. The subjects of this research were all 21 class II students at SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research using observation, test and interview data collection techniques. This research was carried out in three cycles. The research results show that there is an increase in reading ability in each cycle. The increase in students' initial reading ability was measured by a test before using letter card media. The average student score was 50.5. Meanwhile, after using letter card media, the students' average score increased from the first test result, namely 57.6. The second test result increased to 69.0. Then the results of the third test increased again to 83.0. So it can be concluded that the application of letter card media can overcome difficulties in learning to read for students in class II of SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun.
