Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the effectiveness of Students Team Achievement Division and describe of the implementation of Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) at the eleventh grades student at SMKN 2 Kuningan especially in tourism major. The method used in this study is a mixed method. This research is a research step by combining two forms of research that have existed before, namely qualitative research and quantitative research. Mixed method studies include the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. The results of data analysis showed that the average score on the pre-test was 69.85 and the average score on the post-test was 79.88. After getting treatment using the STAD technique, it can be concluded that this technique has an effect on students' speaking skills because it can be seen from the significant average pre-test and post-test scores. Because STAD technique is really informative and creative where one group helps each other which makes them increase their vocabulary and increase confidence to improve their speaking skills.
