RATNANINGSIH (Student ID: 20210310002), A Comparison Between the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model and the Group Investigation (GI) Learning Model on Students' Critical Thinking Skills, Thesis, Economics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Kuningan University. Supervised by Dr. Yeyen Suryani, M.Pd and Cucu Suhartini, M.Pd.
The problem in this research lies in the Economics subject for Grade XI Social Science students, where the learning process is one-way, giving students limited opportunities for discussion. As a result, students tend to be passive and are less able to explore their thinking abilities. Students struggle to think deeply and generate ideas without relying on books or notes. This indicates that students' critical thinking skills are still vulnerable and have not been optimally trained. This research aims to determine the comparison between the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the experimental class and the Group Investigation (GI) learning model in the control class among Grade XI Social Science students at SMA Negeri 1 Kadugede. The method used in this study is a Quasi-Experimental method. A quasi-experiment is a type of research that resembles an experimental method but lacks full control over all variables influencing the study. The research design used is the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, which is similar to the pretest-posttest control group design. Based on the data presentation and discussion, it can be concluded that there is a difference in students' critical thinking abilities between those in the experimental class using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and those in the control class using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model. Additionally, there is a difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills between students in the experimental class using the PBL model and those in the control class using the GI model.
