Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas II SDN 2 Purwawinangun. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor penghambat kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II SD. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. dan subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 5 orang siswa, 2 guru kelas II dan orang tua siswa. teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa faktor-faktor penghambat kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II SDN 2 Purwawinangun adalah faktor internal dan eksternal. faktor internal yaitu faktor yang bersumber dari siswa sendiri, dimana lemahnya daya tangkap dan daya ingat siswa serta tidak adanya minat dan motivasi belajar. faktor eksternal yaitu faktor dari lingkungan keluarga dan sekolah. faktor lingkungan keluarga yaitu kurangnya peran orang tua dalam memberikan bimbingan serta arahan kepada siswa untuk membaca. selanjutnya, faktor lingkungan sekolah yaitu saran dan prasarana seperti perpustakaan yang belum dipergunakan secara optimal, lingkungan pertemanan serta kurangnya penggunaan media atau alat belajar membaca yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan membaca permulaan siswa. adapun saran peneliti untuk mengatasi permasalahan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II SDN 2 purwawinangun yaitu perlu adanya kerja sama antara orang tua dan guru dalam membimbing, memotivasi, memberikan perhatian, serta memfasilitasi kebutuhan belajar membaca siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca.

The background of this research is the low initial reading ability of class II students of SDN 2 Purwawinangun. This research aims to describe the factors inhibiting the ability to learn to read initially in class II elementary school students. The method used in this research is a case study. And the subjects of this research consisted of 5 students, 2 class II teachers and the students' parents. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that the factors inhibiting the beginning reading ability of class II students at SDN 2 Purwawinangun are internal and external factors. Internal factors are factors that originate from the students themselves, where the students' comprehension and memory are weak and there is no interest and motivation to learn. External factors are factors from the family and school environment. The family environmental factor is the lack of parents' role in providing guidance and direction to students in learning to read. Furthermore, school environmental factors are facilities and infrastructure such as libraries that have not been used optimally, the friendship environment and the lack of use of media or reading learning tools that suit students' initial reading needs. The researcher's suggestion to overcome the problems of beginning reading in class II students at SDN 2 Purwawinangun is that there needs to be cooperation between parents and teachers in guiding, motivating, paying attention, and facilitating the reading learning needs of Students who have difficulty reading.
