Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS di kelas V SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya yaitu siswa masih dalam taraf mengingat, memahami, dan menerapkan. Selain itu, siswa kurang aktif bertanya dan mengemukakan pendapat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan serta peningkatan (N-Gain) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS antara kelas yang menerapkan metode pembelajaran Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) dengan kelas yang menerapkan metode ceramah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun yang berjumlah 42 siswa yang terdiri dari kelas VA sebanyak 20 siswa dan kelas VB sebanyak 22 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes tulis berupa pretest dan posttest berbentuk essay. Data yang diperoleh lalu dianalisis menggunakan uji prasyarat statistik yaitu uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji hipotesis, dan uji N-Gain. Hasil perhitungan data posttest diperoleh nilai t_hitung = 8,33 dan t_tabel = 2,02 (t_hitung > t_tabel). Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa (posttest) pada kelas yang menerapkan metode pembelajaran Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) dengan kelas yang menerapkan metode ceramah. Sedangkan perhitungan N-Gain menunjukkan bahwa hasil di kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,72 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,63. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas yang menerapkan metode Learning Start with a Question dengan kelas yang menerapkan metode ceramah.

This research was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students in science and subjects in class V of SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun. This is caused by several factors, including students who are still at the level of remembering, understanding and applying. Apart from that, students are less active in asking questions and expressing opinions. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a difference and increase (N-Gain) critical thinking skills of students in science subjects between classes that apply the learning method learning Start with a Question (LSQ) with the lecture method. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects in this research is class V students of SD Negeri 3 Purwawinangun totaling 42 people consisting of class VA 20 students and class VB 22 students. The data collection technique uses a written test in the form of a pretest and a posttest in the form of an essay. The data obtained was then analyzed using statistical prerequisite tests, namely normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test and N-Gain test. The results of posttest data calculations were obtained t_count = 8,33 and t_table = 2,02 (t_count > t_tabel). So it can be concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. This shows that there are differences in students' critical thinking abilities (posttest) in classes that apply the Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) learning method and classes that apply the lecture method. Meanwhile, the N-Gain calculation shows that the results in the experimental class are 0.72 and the control class is 0.63. So it can be concluded that there is a difference in the increase in students' critical thinking in classes that apply the Learning Start with a Question method and classes that apply the lecture method.
