ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan berbiacara siswa pada
muatan bahasa indonesia yang disebabkan penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang
kurang bervariasi yang tidak melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Tujuan penelitian ini
adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan dan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara
dengan siswa yang menggunakan metode debat aktif di kelas eksperimen dengan
metode ceramah di kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan
kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimen dan desain nonequivalent control
group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Jalaksana
yang terdiri dari 20 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 20 siswa kelas kontrol. Variabel
bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah metode debat aktif dan variabel terkaitnya adalah
keterampilan berbicara. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes lisan. Berupa
pretest dan posttest. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini
adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji t, dan N-Gain. Hasil penelitian ini
menunjukan bahwa nilai thitung sebesar 4,029 dan ttabel 1,685 yang berarti H1 diterima
H0 ditolak. Hal ini terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen yang
menggunakan metode debat aktif dengan kelas kontrol menggunakan metode
ceramah. Selain itu, nilai N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,48 dan kelas kontrol
sebesar 0,21, yang menunjukan bahwa metode debat aktif lebih efektif dalam
meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dibandingkan metode ceramah.

ABSTRACT
This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of students in the Indonesian
language subject, which is caused by the lack of variety in teaching methods and
the limited active involvement of students. The purpose of this study is to describe the
differences and improvements in speaking skills between students who use the active
debate method in the experimental class and those who use the lecture method in
the control class. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-
experimental method and a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design.
The subjects of the study were fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Jalaksana, consisting
of 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The
independent variable in this study is the active debate method, while the dependent
variable is speaking skills. Data collection techniques involved oral tests, including
pretests and posttests. The data analysis techniques used in this study were the
normality test, homogeneity test, t-test, and N-Gain. The results of the study showed
that the t-value was 4.029 and the t-table value was 1.685, indicating that H1 is
accepted and H0 is rejected. This means there is a significant difference between
the experimental class using the active debate method and the control class using
the lecture method. In addition, the N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.48,
while the control class scored 0.21, indicating that the active debate method is more
effective in improving speaking skills compared to the lecture method.
