Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi yang menunjukkan rendahnya keaktifan siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS di kelas III SD Negeri 17 Kuningan, Kecamatan/Kabupaten Kuningan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yaitu kegiatan pembelajaran cenderung masih berpusat pada guru, siswa yang malu bertanya atau berpendapat dan kurangnya penerapan model pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keaktifan siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS antara kelas yang menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe numbered head together dengan model pembelajaran problem based learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Counterbalance. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas III SD Negeri 17 Kuningan berjumlah 54 orang, yang terdiri dari kelas III A 26 orang dan kelas III B 28 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perbedaan keaktifan siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS antara kedua model tersebut.

This research was motivated by the results of observations showing low student activeness in the subject of Natural Sciences in grade III of SD Negeri 17 Kuningan, Kuningan District/Regency. This is caused by several factors, namely learning activities tend to be centered on the teacher, students who are embarrassed to ask or give opinions and the lack of application of learning models. This study aims to determine the differences in student activity in the subject of science between classes that apply the cooperative learning model of the numbered head together type and the problem based learning model. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a Counterbalance research design. The subjects of this study were 54 students of grade III of SD Negeri 17 Kuningan, consisting of 26 students of class III A and 28 students of class III B. Data collection techniques used observation and interviews. The data analysis techniques of this study were normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of this study show differences in student activity in the subject of science between the two models.
