Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan guru kelas V A SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, Kecamatan Kuningan, Kabupaten Kuningan Karakter sopan santun pada siswa, khususnya di SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, masih rendah dan belum diketahui sejauh mana peran guru sebagai pembimbing dalam mempengaruhi karakter ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah rendahnya karakter sopan santun siswa di SD Negeri 4 Kuningan dan mengeksplorasi sejauh mana peran guru sebagai pembimbing dapat mempengaruhi karakter tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, yang memungkinkan pemahaman mendalam dan holistik terhadap fenomena ini dalam konteks alami. Pendekatan studi kasus dipilih karena mampu memberikan analisis mendalam terhadap peran guru dalam lingkungan spesifik, yaitu SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, dan mengevaluasi dampak tindakan guru terhadap perilaku siswa. Penelitian ini sangat penting karena peran guru dalam membentuk karakter siswa belum banyak dibahas secara mendalam, sehingga diharapkan dapat memberikan solusi praktis dan strategis untuk meningkatkan karakter sopan santun siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru yang aktif dalam memberikan bimbingan dan menjadi teladan yang baik dapat secara signifikan meningkatkan karakter sopan santun siswa. Indikator keberhasilan penelitian meliputi peningkatan perilaku sopan santun dikelas, pengurangan insiden perilaku tidak sopan, peningkatan kepuasan guru terhadap perubahan perilaku siswa, dan umpan balik positif dari siswa mengenai bimbingan yang diterima. Penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi penting dalam bidang pendidikan karakter dengan memahami dan mengembangkan peran guru sebagai pembimbing.

This research is based on the results of observations and interviews with the fifth-grade teacher of Class V A at SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, Kuningan District, Kuningan Regency. The politeness character among students, particularly at SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, is still low, and the extent to which teachers' roles as mentors influence this character is not yet known. The aim of this research is to address the issue of the low politeness character among students at SD Negeri 4 Kuningan and to explore the extent to which the role of teachers as mentors can influence this character. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, which allows for an in-depth and holistic understanding of this phenomenon in its natural context. The case study approach was chosen because it provides a detailed analysis of the teacher's role in a specific environment, namely SD Negeri 4 Kuningan, and evaluates the impact of teacher actions on student behavior. This research is important because the role of teachers in shaping student character has not been extensively discussed in depth, thus it is expected to provide practical and strategic solutions to enhance the politeness character of students. The research findings show that teachers who are active in providing guidance and serve as good role models can significantly improve the politeness character of students. Indicators of research success include increased polite behavior in the classroom, a reduction in incidents of impolite behavior, increased teacher satisfaction with changes in student behavior, and positive feedback from students regarding the guidance they received. This research is expected to make an important contribution to the field of character education by understanding and developing the role of teachers as mentors.
