Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, proses ekranisasi telah menjadi komponen penting dari industri perfilman Indonesia. Tren ini muncul di era digital yang semakin berkembang, dengan banyak film yang diadaptasi dari novel, cerita pendek, drama, dan karya sastra lainnya. Dengan ekranisasi, pembaca memiliki kesempatan untuk lebih memahami cerita dan karakter dari karya sastra yang ditampilkan dalam film. Cerita dalam film Gasdis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah juga diangkat dari novel yang berjudul sama yaitu, Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui isi novel, isi film, dan proses ekranisasi novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala ke dalam film Gadis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Bagaimana isi novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala? 2) Bagaimana isi film Gadis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah? 3) Bagaimana proses ekranisasi novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala ke dalamfilm Gadis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah? Merode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik penelitian yang penulis lakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan melakukan teknik studi pustaka dan dokumentasi yaitu novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala dan film Gadis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah. Dari proses analisis tersebut menghasilkan simpulan bahwa hasil analis data mengenai isi novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala, isi film Gadis Kretek sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah, menggunakan teknik alur lurus (progresif), tokoh dan penokohan, yaitu tokoh utama dan tambahan, yang diklasifikasikan menjadi tokoh utama dan tokoh bawahan tambahan, serta latar/setting yang difokuskan pada latar tempat. Dan dalam proses ekranisasi pada alur, tokoh dan penokohan, serta latar menunjukkan perubahan yang dapat ditinjau dari aspek penciutan, penambahan, perubahan bervariasi. Perubahan-perubahan terjadi karena, keterbatasan film terkait durasi dan fokus cerita, kebutuhan unsur naratif, pertimbangan sinematografi dan komersil, serta tidak menutuup kemungkinan dikarenakan kreativitas dari sutradara.

In recent decades, the process of ekranisasi has become an important component of the Indonesian film industry. This trend comes in the growing digital age, with many films adapted from novels, short stories, plays, and other literary works. With ekranisasi, readers have the opportunity to better understand the stories and characters of the literary works featured in the film. The story in the film Gasdis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah is also based on the novel of the same name, namely Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of the novel, the content of the film, and the process of extracting the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala into the film Gadis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah. The formulation of the problem in this study is: 1) What is the content of the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala? 2) What is the content of Gadis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah? 3) How was the process of ekranosasi the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala into the film Gadis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah? The research method used is qualitative descriptive method. The research technique that the author did in this study was by conducting literature and documentation study techniques, namely the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala and the film Gadis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah. From the analysis process, it was concluded that the results of data analysis regarding the content of the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala, the content of the film Gadis Kretek directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah, used straight plot techniques (progressive), characters and characterizations, namely main and additional characters, which were classified into main characters and additional subordinate characters, as well as settings focused on the setting. And in the process of ekranisasi in the plot, characters and characterizations, as well as the background setting shows changes that can be viewed from the aspects of shrinking, adding, changing varied. Changes occurred due to the limitations of the film related to the duration and focus of the story, the need for narrative elements, cinematographic and commercial considerations, and not knowing the possibility due to the creativity of the director.
