Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi media visual kontekstual dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan literasi sains khususnya dalam konsep ekologi dan keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April sampai bulan Juni 2024. Metode penelitian menggunakan R&D (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang dikembangkan oleh Dick and Carry (1996), dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VII MTs Negeri 7 Majalengka dengan jumlah siswa 112 orang. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 2 kelas yang diambil secara simple random sampling yaitu kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII D sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 50 orang. Hasil dari uji coba produk mendapatkan persentase respon siswa dengan rata-rata 87,50% masuk kategori sangat baik berdasarkan skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar setelah diterapkan media visual kontekstual dengan menggunakan uji t dengan hasil 0,012, serta hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan literasi sains setalah diterapkan media visual kontekstual dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan uji t dengan hasil 0,001. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan motivasi dan literasi sains setelah diterapkan media visual kontekstual dalam pembelajaran ekologi dan keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian, pengembangan media visual kontekstual yang berbeda dan bersifat abstrak misalnya materi sel, media visual kontekstual yang dikembangkan dianjurkan dalam bentuk game, membandingkan efektivitas berbagai jenis media visual kontekstual, seperti animasi, simulasi dan infografik dalam konteks pendidikan, serta pengembangan media pembelajaran sebaiknya mempertimbangkan gaya belajar siswa agar media yang dikembangkan sesuai dengan karakteristik dan preferensi belajar siswa.

The aim of this research is to develop and evaluate contextual visual media in increasing motivation and scientific literacy, especially in the concept of ecology and Indonesian biodiversity. This research was carried out from April to June 2024. The research method used R&D (Research and Development) using the ADDIE model developed by Dick and Carry (1996), with a population of all class VII students at MTs Negeri 7 Majalengka with a total of 112 students. The samples used were 2 classes taken using simple random sampling, namely class VII A as the experimental class and class VII D as the control class with a total of 50 students. The results of product trials obtained an average percentage of student responses of 87.50% in the very good category based on the Likert scale. The research results show an increase in learning motivation after applying contextual visual media using the t test with a result of 0.012, and the research results also show that there is an increase in scientific literacy after applying contextual visual media in learning using the t test with a result of 0.001. It can be concluded that there is an increase in motivation and scientific literacy after implementing contextual visual media in learning about ecology and biodiversity in Indonesia. Recommendations for research, development of contextual visual media that is different and abstract in nature, for example cell material, contextual visual media that is developed in the form of games, comparing the effectiveness of various types of contextual visual media, such as animation, simulation and infographics in educational contexts, as well as the development of learning media should consider students' learning styles so that the media developed is in accordance with students' learning characteristics and preferences.
