Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bukti empiris dan model yang dapat menjelaskan tentang pengaruh debt covenant, bonus plan, business risk, cash holding, dan information asymmetry terhadap income smoothing. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dan verifikatif. Populasi penelitian adalah perusahaan sub sektor makanan dan minuman sebanyak 95 perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia Tahun 2019-2023. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu laporan tahunan perusahaan sub sektor makanan dan minuman sebanyak 53 perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia tahun 2019-2023 dengan menggunakan teknik quota sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi tidak berpartisipasi sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi data panel dan menggunakan software Eviews 9.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bonus plan, business risk, cash holding, dan information asymmetry berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap income smoothing. Sedangkan debt covenant berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap income smoothing.

This study aims to generate empirical evidence and a model that can explain the effect of debt covenants, bonus plans, business risk, cash holding, and information asymmetry on income smoothing. The research methods used are descriptive and verification. The study population is 95 food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2019-2023. The sample used was the annual reports of 53 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2019-2023 period, using quota sampling. Non-participant observation was used as the data collection technique, while panel data regression analysis was used using Eviews 9.0 software. The results showed that bonus plans, business risk, cash holdings, and information asymmetry had a significant positive effect on income smoothing. Debt covenants, on the other hand, had a significant negative effect on income smoothing.
