Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika, siswa hanya bisa menyelesaikan soal sampai pada tahap memahami soal, sedangkan tahap merencanakan pemecahan soal, melaksanakan rencana pemecahan soal, dan melihat kembali hasil pemecahan soal belum maksimal. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan dan peningkatan (gain) kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV B dan IV C SDN 1 Awirarangan, Kecamatan Kuningan, Kabupaten Kuningan. Variabel penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah tes uraian. Hasil perhitungan analisis data posttest menunjukkan nilai thitung 10,27 dan nilai ttabel 1,68 (thitung > ttabel). Berdasarkan kriteria pengajuan hipotesis maka H1 diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan posttest antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil uji gain pada kelas eksperimen masuk dalam kategori tinggi, sedangkan untuk kelas kontrol masuk dalam kategori sedang. Sehingga hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan peningkatan (gain) kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Implementasi model pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) pada kegiatan pembelajaran matematika kelas IV di SD Negeri 1 Awirarangan pada semester genap 2024/2025 berhasil dilaksanakan dengan baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi model pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) berpengaruh pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.

This study was driven by the low proficiency of elementary students in solving mathematical problems. Students were generally able to comprehend the problem statements but struggled with subsequent stages such as planning, executing, and evaluating their problem-solving strategies. The objective of this research was to investigate the differences and improvements (gain) in mathematical problem-solving abilities between students in an experimental class and those in a control class. A quasi- experimental method was applied using a nonequivalent control group design. The study involved fourth-grade students from classes IV B and IV C at SDN 1 Awirarangan, Kuningan District, Indonesia. The variables examined were the implementation of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning model and students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. Data were collected through a written test consisting of open-ended questions. The results of the post-test analysis showed a significant difference between the two groups, with a t-value of 10.27 exceeding the t-table value of
1.68 (tcount > ttable). Accordingly, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Gain analysis further indicated that the experimental group achieved a high category of improvement, whereas the control group demonstrated a moderate gain. These findings suggest that the integration of the STEM learning model had a positive effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. The implementation was successfully carried out during the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year at SDN 1 Awirarangan. It can be concluded that the STEM approach is effective in enhancing elementary students' problem- solving skills in mathematics.
