Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekuasaan dalam novel Harimau! Harimau! karya Mochtar Lubis dilihat dari tokoh, perwatakan, dan konflik melalui pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis model Teun A. Van Dijk. Latar belakang penelitian ini fokus pada pentingnya sastra sebagai media kritik sosial-politik yang mengungkapkan hubungan kekuasaan, ideologi, dan dinamika moral dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana kekuasaan direpresentasikan melalui karakter-karakter dalam novel, serta konflik yang muncul akibat dari hubungan kekuasaan dalam masyarakat. Berdasarkan analisis tiga dimensi Van Dijk: dimensi teks, dimensi kognisi sosial, dan dimensi konteks sosial. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis isi (content analysis) dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) karakter dalam novel mencerminkan kompleksitas psikologis yang dibentuk oleh tekanan sosial, politik, dan moral pada masa Orde Baru; (2) teks novel ini menghasilkan wacana yang mengancam kekuasaan otoriter, patriarki, dan simbolik dominasi; (3) pada tataran kognisi sosial, tokoh-tokoh merepresentasikan memori kolektif dan skema sosial masyarakat Indonesia pasca kolonial, khususnya dalam konteks represif Orde Baru; dan (4) secara konteks sosial, konflik yang dialami tokoh mencerminkan bagaimana kekuasaan, ketimpangan akses informasi, dan legitimasi simbolik membentuk hubungan sosial dan perlawanan individu terhadap hegemoni. Oleh karena itu, Harimau! Harimau! bukan hanya sebuah karya sastra naratif, namun juga teks ideologis yang merefleksikan dan mengkritisi kondisi sosial-politik Indonesia. Novel ini mengajarkan bahwa keberanian individu dalam menghadapi ketakutan dan ketidakadilan adalah perwujudan menuju kesadaran kolektif dan perubahan sosial.

This study aims to analyze power in the novel Harimau! Harimau! by Mochtar Lubis seen from the characters, characterization, and conflict through the Critical Discourse Analysis approach of the Teun A. Van Dijk model. The background of this study focuses on the importance of literature as a medium of socio-political criticism that reveals the relationship of power, ideology, and moral dynamics in society. This study analyzes how power is represented through the characters in the novel, as well as the conflicts that arise as a result of power relations in society. Based on Van Dijk's three-dimensional analysis: text dimension, social cognition dimension, and social context dimension. The method used is content analysis with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study show that (1) the characters in the novel reflect the psychological complexity formed by social, political, and moral pressures during the New Order; (2) the text of this novel produces a discourse that threatens authoritarian, patriarchal, and symbolic domination power; (3) at the level of social cognition, the characters represent the collective memory and social schemes of post-colonial Indonesian society, especially in the repressive context of the New Order; and (4) in terms of social context, the conflicts experienced by the characters reflect how power, inequality of access to information, and symbolic legitimacy shape social relations and individual resistance to hegemony. Therefore, Harimau! Harimau! is not only a narrative literary work, but also an ideological text that reflects and criticizes the socio-political conditions of Indonesia. This novel teaches that individual courage in facing fear and injustice is a manifestation of collective consciousness and social change.
