Abstract

This study aimed to identify the types of adjacency pairs in the podcast video of Deddy Corbuzier with the Palestine ambassador and to find out the implications of the types of adjacency pairs towards the conversation in the podcast video of Deddy Corbuzier with the Palestine ambassador. This study used qualitative research as the research method. The results of this study show that there are five types of adjacency pairs that appear between the participants in the conversation, namely question-answer, greeting-greeting, compliment-acceptance, assessment-agreement, and leave-taking adjacency pair type. The question-answer is the most dominant type that appears in the conversation between the participants. The implication of the types of adjacency pairs towards the conversation in the podcast video is that the adjacency pair that used by Deddy Corbuzier and the Palestine ambassador Dr. Zuhair Al-Shun shapes effective communication, where the response of the participants are mostly an appropriate response to the questions, compliments, and others.
