Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pengaruh dari metode bernyanyi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental dengan melibatkan 36 siswa kelas 1 SDN 2 Padamulya. Penelitian ini menggunakan tes yang terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test, dan kuesioner untuk teknik mengoleksi data. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa skor mean dari kelas eksperimental pada pre-test adalah 62.28, dan skor mean kelas eksperimen pada post-test mendapatkan 87.7. Peningkatan dari kemampuan berbicara siswa dapat dilihat dari level signifikansi (two tailed) dalam test berpasangan bahwa nilai alpha kurang dari (0.001<0.05). Itu mengidentifikasikan bahwa hipotesis nol ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif diterima yang mana itu berarti bahwa disana ada signifikansi berbeda dari mean antara pre-test dan post-test dari kelas eksperimen. Selain itu, siswa mengisi sepuluh item kuesioner yang terdiri dari aspek afektif, behavioral, dan kognitif, hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kebanyakan dari siswa di kelas eksperimen sangat setuju bahwa metode bernyanyi dapat membantu mereka dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mereka. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa pengaruh dari metode bernyanyi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.

This research is aimed to find out the effect of the singing method in improving students’ speaking skills. This research used quantitative with pre-experimental design by involving 36 students class 1 of SDN 2 Padamulya. This research used test considered of pretest and post-test, and questionnaire to data collection technique. The result showed that the mean score of the experimental class on the pretest was 62.28, and the mean score of the experimental class on the post-test achieved 87.7. The improvement of students’ speaking skills can also be seen from the level of significance (two-tailed) in a paired test that was less than alpha (0.001<0.05). It indicated that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted which means that there was a significant difference of means between the pretest and post-test of the experimental class. Besides that, the students completed ten items of the questionnaire involving affective, behavioral, and cognitive aspects, the results shown that most of students in experimental class strongly agreed that the singing method can help them improve their speaking skills. The researcher concludes that the effect of the singing method can improve students’ speaking skills.
