Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran geometris merupakan komponen krusial dalam pembelajaran matematika karena melibatkan proses berpikir logis dan sistematis. Namun, tingkat kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa secara umum masih tergolong rendah. Selain itu, kecemasan matematika juga menjadi permasalahan yang signifikan; sebagian siswa mengalami rasa takut atau kurang percaya diri ketika menghadapi materi matematika. Kondisi ini diperkirakan turut berkontribusi terhadap rendahnya pemahaman dan penyelesaian soal-soal yang menuntut penalaran geometris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecemasan matematika dan kemampuan spasial terhadap kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan asosiatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Yos Sudarso Cigugur dengan sampel 62 siswa yang dipilih melalui teknik simple random sampling menggunakan rumus Slovin. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari angket kecemasan matematika, tes kemampuan spasial dan tes kemampuan penalaran geometris yang telah divalidasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sedarhana dan berganda. Berdasarkan analisis data, hasil menunjukkan bahwa 1) Kecemasan matematika berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa dengan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,614 tetapi tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan tersebut, 2) Kemampuan spasial berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa dengan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,409 namun tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan tersebut, 3) Secara simultan, kecemasan matematika dan kemampuan spasial berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 10,3%. Hal ini sejalan dengan teori beban kognitif, yang menyatakan tekanan dalam bentuk kecemasan yang masih dalam batas toleransi dapat meningkatkan kewaspadaan dan fokus siswa. Sementara itu, teori efikasi diri menjelaskan bahwa siswa dengan efikasi diri tinggi mampu mengelola kecemasan menjadi dorongan berpikir kritis, sehingga tetap menunjukkan kemampuan penalaran geometris yang baik meskipun mengalami kecemasan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pengaruh secara parsial tidak signifikan, kedua variabel tetap memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa.

Geometric reasoning ability is a crucial component in learning mathematics because it involves a logical and systematic thinking process. However, the level of geometric reasoning ability of students in general is still relatively low. In addition, math anxiety is also a significant problem; some students experience fear or lack of confidence when facing math material. This condition is thought to contribute to the low understanding and completion of problems that require geometric reasoning. This study aims to determine the effect of math anxiety and spatial ability on students' geometric reasoning ability, both partially and simultaneously. This research is a quantitative research with associative approach. The population in this study were VIII grade students at Yos Sudarso Cigugur Junior High School with 62 students as the selected samples through simple random sampling technique using the Slovin formula. The research instrument consisted of math anxiety questionnaire, spatial ability test and geometric reasoning ability test that has been validated. Data were analysed using simple and multiple linear regression. Based on data analysis, the results show that 1) Math anxiety has a positive effect on students' geometric reasoning ability with a regression coefficient value of 0.614 but does not have a significant effect on these abilities, 2) Spatial ability has a positive effect on students' geometric reasoning ability with a regression coefficient value of 0.409 but does not significantly affect it, 3) Simultaneously, math anxiety and spatial ability have a positive and significant effect on students' geometric reasoning ability with a coefficient of determination of 10.3%. This is in line with cognitive load theory, which states that pressure in the form of anxiety that is still within the limits of tolerance can increase student alertness and focus. Meanwhile, self-efficacy theory explains that students with high self-efficacy are able to manage anxiety into a critical thinking impulse, so that they still show good geometric reasoning skills despite experiencing anxiety. This finding shows that although the partial effect is not significant, both variables still contribute to the improvement of students' geometric reasoning ability.
