Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk kearifan lokal masyarakat Kampung Adat Kuta yang diterapkan dalam menjaga kelestarian Hutan Keramat Leuweung Gede di Desa Karangpaningal, Kecamatan Tambaksari, Kabupaten Ciamis Jawa Barat. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah tokoh masyarakat, aparat desa, dan masyarakat kampung adat kuta. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kearifan lokal masyarakat Kampung Adat Kuta dalam melestarikan hutan keramat diterapkan dalam bentuk larangan-larangan atau dalam istilah pamali. Kearifan lokal masyarakat Kampung Adat Kuta berdampak positif terhadap kelestarian hutan keramat. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan diraihnya penghargaan Kalpataru pada tahun 2002. Dengan penerapan kearifan lokal dalam pelestarian hutan keramat, kondisi hutan keramat sampai saat ini masih terjaga keasliannya karena tidak adanya aktifitas didalam kawasan hutan keramat. Masyarakat Kampung Adat Kuta sangat menjungjung tinggi semua aturan yang berlaku dan mempercayai apabila aturan tersebut dilanggar akan menimbulkan murka dari para leluhur sehingga akan menyebabkan bencana.

This research was conducted to determine the forms of local wisdom of the Kuta Traditional Village community which are applied in preserving the Leweung Gede Sacred Forest in Karangpaningal Village, Tambaksari District, Ciamis Regency, West Java. The wisdom of the Kuta Traditional Village community in protecting the prohibited forest is local wisdom passed down orally, making it vulnerable to extinction as the number of speakers increases. So it is necessary to conduct a study to inventory local wisdom. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews and observation methods. Respondents in this research were community leaders, village officials and the Kuta Traditional Village community. The results of the research show that the local wisdom of the Kuta Traditional Village community in preserving sacred forests is practiced in the form of prohibitions or in terms of pamali. The local wisdom of the Kuta Traditional Village community not only has spiritual and cultural meaning, but also has the meaning of ecological protection in the preservation of sacred forests. With the application of local wisdom in preserving sacred forests, the condition of sacred forests is still maintained in its authenticity. The people of Kuta Traditional Village highly uphold all applicable rules and believe that if these rules are violated, they will incur the wrath of their ancestors, which will cause disaster.
