Abstract

Tanaman kantong semar (Nepenthes spp.) adalah tanaman karnivora yang keberadaannya di Pulau Jawa semakin terancam oleh deforestasi dan penangkapan ikan ilegal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi spesies dan menentukan populasi tanaman kantong semar di Kawasan Hutan Gunung Kumbang, Kabupaten Brebes, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sensus, yaitu dengan mengamati seluruh individu tanaman kantong semar yang ditemukan di area pengamatan seluas 11.541 hektar pada ketinggian 1.087-1.211 meter di atas permukaan laut. Berdasarkan hasil inventarisasi, ditemukan dua spesies tanaman kantong semar, yaitu Nepenthes adrianii dan Nepenthes gymnamphora, dengan total 412 individu. Nepenthes adrianii tercatat sebagai spesies yang paling dominan dengan 325 individu dan kepadatan populasi 28,16 individu/hektar, sedangkan Nepenthes gymnamphora ditemukan dengan 87 individu dengan kepadatan 7,53 individu/hektar. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wiener (H') sebesar 0,5157 menunjukkan tingkat keanekaragaman yang relatif rendah, indeks dominasi Simpson (C) sebesar 0,6668 menunjukkan dominasi sedang oleh satu spesies, dan indeks keseragaman Pielou (E) sebesar 0,7440 mencerminkan distribusi individu yang relatif merata antara kedua spesies. Kondisi faktor abiotik di lokasi penelitian, yang meliputi suhu udara rata-rata 21,95°C, kelembaban udara rata-rata 73,5%, pH tanah rata-rata 5,75, dan ketinggian rata-rata 1.149 meter di atas permukaan laut, secara umum masih dalam kisaran yang mendukung pertumbuhan kedua spesies tersebut. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Kawasan Hutan Gunung Kumbang merupakan habitat penting bagi kelangsungan hidup tanaman kantong semar endemik Jawa yang dilindungi secara nasional dan internasional (CITES), sehingga diperlukan upaya konservasi yang konsisten dan pemantauan populasi secara berkala untuk mencegah kepunahan kedua spesies tersebut di habitat alaminya.

Pitcher plants (Nepenthes spp.) are carnivorous plants whose existence on the island of Java is increasingly threatened by deforestation and illegal fishing. This study aims to identify species and determine the population of pitcher plants in the Gunung Kumbang Forest Area, Brebes Regency, Central Java Province. The method used is the census method, namely by observing all individual pitcher plants found in an observation area of 11,541 hectares at an altitude of 1,087–1,211 meters above sea level. Based on the inventory results, two species of pitcher plants were found, namely Nepenthes adrianii and Nepenthes gymnamphora, with a total of 412 individuals. Nepenthes adrianii was recorded as the most dominant species with 325 individuals and a population density of 28.16 individuals/hectare, while Nepenthes gymnamphora was found with 87 individuals with a density of 7.53 individuals/hectare. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') value of 0.5157 indicates a relatively low level of diversity, the Simpson dominance index (C) of 0.6668 indicates moderate dominance by one species, and the Pielou evenness index (E) of 0.7440 reflects a relatively even distribution of individuals between the two species. The abiotic factor conditions at the research location, which include an average air temperature of 21.95°C, an average air humidity of 73.5%, an average soil pH of 5.75, and an average altitude of 1,149 meters above sea level, are generally still within the range that supports the growth of both species. These findings indicate that the Gunung Kumbang Forest Area is an important habitat for the survival of the endemic Javanese pitcher plant which is protected nationally and internationally (CITES), so that consistent conservation efforts and regular population monitoring are needed to prevent the extinction of both species in their natural habitat.
