Abstract

Pencemaran air yang berasal dari limbah domestik dan industri batik tetap menjadi
masalah lingkungan yang serius akibat adanya senyawa organik,deterjen, pewarna,
dan logam berat yang merusak kualitas air. Tumbuhan eceng gondok (Eichhornia
crassipes) dikenal luas sebagai tanaman potensial untuk fitoremediasi. Namun,
pertumbuhannya dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik air. Penelitian ini bertujuan
menganalisis respons pertumbuhan Eichhornia crassipes pada media air berbeda,
yaitu air tanah, limbah domestik, limbah batik, dan campuran limbah domestik dan
batik. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak
Lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan di Laboratorium Fakultas
Kehutanan dan Lingkungan, Universitas Kuningan. Pertumbuhan tanaman diamati
selama 14 hari berdasarkan perubahan berat segar dan Laju Pertumbuhan
Relatif (RGR), dan data dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Variansi diikuti dengan
Uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media air
secara signifikan mempengaruhi pertumbuhan teratai air (p < 0.001). Rata-rata
berat segar akhir tertinggi dan RGR positif tercatat pada air tanah (255,10 g;
+0,010%), sementara limbah batik (170,27 g; +0,002%) dan limbah domestik
(178,47 g; –0,017%) menunjukkan respons pertumbuhan terendah. Limbah
campuran menghasilkan pertumbuhan moderat (195,70 g; –0,007%), menunjukkan
efek mitigasi sebagian ketika kedua limbah digabungkan. Kesimpulannya, variasi
media air secara signifikan mempengaruhi respons pertumbuhan Eichhornia
crassipes, dan penurunan pertumbuhan pada media terkontaminasi mencerminkan
stres lingkungan yang terkait dengan proses fitoremediasi. Studi lebih lanjut
direkomendasikan untuk memasukkan parameter kualitas air dan analisis
penyerapan polutan guna memperkuat penilaian fitoremediasi.

Water pollution originating from domestic and batik industrial wastewater remains
a serious environmental issue due to the presence of organic compounds,
detergents, dyes, and heavy metals that degrade water quality. Water hyacinth
(Eichhornia crassipes) is widely recognized as a potential phytoremediation plant;
however, its growth performance is influenced by water characteristics. This study
aimed to analyze the growth response of Eichhornia crassipes in different water
media, namely groundwater, domestic wastewater, batik wastewater, and a mixture
of domestic and batik wastewater. The research was conducted experimentally
using a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and five replications
at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, University of
Kuningan. Plant growth was observed for 14 days based on changes in fresh weight
and Relative Growth Rate (RGR), and data were analyzed using Analysis of
Variance followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results indicated that
water media significantly affected the growth of water hyacinth (p < 0.001). The
highest average final fresh weight and positive RGR were recorded in groundwater
(255.10 g; +0.010%), while batik wastewater (170.27 g; +0.002%) and domestic
wastewater (178.47 g; –0.017%) showed the lowest growth responses. The mixed
wastewater resulted in moderate growth (195.70 g; –0.007%), suggesting partial
mitigation effects when the two wastewaters were combined. In conclusion,
variation in water media significantly influences the growth response of Eichhornia
crassipes, and reduced growth in polluted media reflects environmental stress
associated with phytoremediation processes. Further studies are recommended to
incorporate water quality parameters and pollutant uptake analysis to strengthen
phytoremediation assessment.
