Cipakem Village, located in the Maleber Subdistrict of Kuningan Regency, covers an area of 2,096 hectares and lies at an elevation between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, within a tropical climate zone. The village is geographically bordered by Padamulya, Mekarsari, and Galaherang Villages to the north; Situgede and Gunung Aci Villages to the south; Cipades and Pinara Villages to the west; and Giriwaringin and Patala Villages to the east. Human activities such as wildlife hunting—particularly of birds—and illegal logging have caused significant physical changes in the area, threatening the survival of avian species. Birds are frequently utilized by the local community for pet ownership, economic gain, and aesthetic purposes. The increasing population and high exploitation rates have placed considerable pressure on bird species and their natural habitats. Vegetation loss has further reduced the availability of natural food sources, as noted in the study by Firdaus et al. (2014). The bird diversity in Cipakem Village is categorized as moderate and is distributed across three types of habitats: mixed forest, rice fields, and residential areas. The diversity index values for each habitat are 2.94 H’ (25 species) in the mixed forest, 2.23 H’ (14 species) in rice fields, and 2.47 H’ (16 species) in residential areas.
